Income Tax Expense |
NCLH is treated as a corporation for U.S. federal income tax purposes. For the three and nine months ended September 30, 2013, income tax expense was $7.9 million and $11.2 million, respectively. Income tax expense for the nine months includes a one-time expense of $4.2 million due to a change in U.S. tax status from a partnership to a corporation in connection with our IPO and a benefit of $2.6 million in connection with our prepayments of debt. In September 2013, we commenced the implementation of a global tax platform. The implementation of this new platform is expected to be completed by December 31, 2013 and, accordingly, its effect has been included as a reduction of $6.6 million to income tax expense for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2013. |
